What is Kuali Student?

The Product

Kuali Student is a next-generation student system currently under development.

• Will offer a flexible, scalable, cost-effective system that can be configured to meet the business requirements of any higher education institution.
• Our student-centric design will help students, faculty, and institutions deal with the dynamic learning environment.
• To be released by module and distributed through open source license.

  Open Source

  During development, Kuali Student will be built using open source products for the software stack, infrastructure, and many of the development tools. This does not preclude the use of commercial software for individual implementations.

  Once developed, there will be free access to the Kuali Student source code and the rights to use it. All software and materials will be available under the Education Community License issued through the Kuali Foundation, and can be adopted by colleges and universities around the world without licensing fees.

Development Process

Kuali Student is a five year, phased delivery development project

• Led by a consortium of universities following a community-source development approach.
• Initial implementation of the modules to be completed by each of
  the Founder Institutions.
